History: SBI is the country’s oldest bank and a pioneer in financial service providers with the highest number of branches and ATM’s which are working in India and overseas as well. Bank claims it’s origin in Bank of Calcutta which later chartered and was renamed Bank of Bengal on 2nd January 1809. In the year 1921, Bank of Bengal along with Bank of Madras and Bank of Bombay amalgamated with Imperial Bank of India. In 1955, Indian government nationalized the Imperial Bank and from here onwards this bank was rechristened as State Bank of India.
